How I Find Little Joys in Life

It’s no secret that life can happen, and circumstances build up. Negative emotions can play such a large role in our life if we do not grab hold of them and adjust our perspective. I have found that by taking it day by day, and finding the little joys in life, my life is significantly more purposeful and fulfilling.

  1. Stay Active!

One thing that I will always be passionate about is staying physically healthy. There is no right or wrong way to do this, it’s all about doing what is best for your mental health. Whether that is a 30 minute walk, yoga, weightlifting, or running, being active can improve your mental health immensely. In the last couple of years, I have begun to get serious about moving my body and every day that I continue doing it, I feel so much more confident in myself and my own mental health.

  1. Journal!

One of my new found favorites is journaling. If you’re worried about having enough time to do it, it doesn’t even have to be everyday. A lot of the time I journal when I am on emotional overload and need somewhere to process what I am thinking. It is a way to get it out without becoming overwhelmed. And, it is amazing to be able to read old entries and see how far you’ve come emotionally, physically, mentally, spiritually, and overall as a person!

  1. Look for a positive note each day!

A simple thing you can do daily is find the little “joy moments” throughout your day. Each night, think of something that made it a “good day”. Even in the hardest of days, there is something to find. The more you focus on the positive, the less control the negative has over you.

  1. Spend time with the people who truly care about you!

Don’t waste your time on toxic people in your life. Even if it doesn’t feel like it, there are genuine people who care about you and care about how you’re doing. Never take them for granted! They may be few and far between, but they are there.

When you focus on who and what you are passionate about, the loudness of negative emotion is drowned out. It is so possible to be joyful in tough seasons when we have the God of the world on our side! Remember these tips for a joyful life, but never forget where your true joy should come from. Because ultimately, God is the one who will never disappoint and will lead you to a fruitful life!
